Tobacco UseTobacco use results to 17% or 1,200 deaths in Hawaii annually compared to 21% (1,200) per day nationwide.¹ Although tobacco is the most preventable cause of premature death and disease, it kills more people than AIDS, murders, suicides, alcohol and drug abuse, car accident and fires combined.² Tobacco use results to one out of three teen smokers premature death and up to 300,000 respiratory tract infections in children because of exposure to secondhand smoke.³
