PRAMS, the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System, is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's sponsored surveillance project. The PRAMS survey collects state-specific, population-based data on maternal attitudes and experiences before, during, and shortly after pregnancy. The Perinatal Health Services Section within the Department of Health's (DOH) Maternal and Child Health Branch oversees the state's PRAMS program.

Level of detail:
1) The lowest level of detail in the PRAMS data is the birth mother.
2) Related dimensions are Date, Infant Gender, Mother's Race-Ethnicity, Mother's Hispanic Origin, Age, Mother's Residential County, Education Level, Poverty Level, Married Indicator, and Household demographics.

Data Notes:
* PRAMS data should only be analyzed by Year and one other dimension, due to small sample sizes.
* PRAMS dates are based off the Infant's Date of Birth (from the Birth Record).
* PRAMS geography is based on the mother's residence using the HHDW geography hierarchy.
* PRAMS data represents only births to Hawaii residents.
* Lowest level of geography for PRAMS analysis is COUNTY.
* Reminder about age groupings: Predefined age groups have been provided for the PRAMS data.
* Education Level has changed: “Kindergarten/Never attended School” is combined with Grades 1-8.
* Cell size restriction is 30 (unweighted) on the denominator for PRAMS (CDC standard). If denominator is less than 60, a footnote is required.
