The Hawaii Health Survey (HHS), implemented by the Office of Health Status Monitoring (OHSM), is an annual survey (started in 1968 and a telephone survey since 1996) modeled after the National Health Interview Survey. HHS collects demographic information for measuring population changes during intercensal years. It provides estimates for demographic, socio-economic, and health variables for the state of Hawaii and sub-areas. Information on special topics may be collected by additional modules by year.

1) The lowest level of detail captured in this data is the household member.
2) The related dimensions are: Year, Age, Gender, Race-Ethnicity, Demographics, Household Demographics and Geography

Data Notes:
* In a multistage design the household (PSU) is disproportionately sampled by island (random within island). A knowledgeable adult (>=18 years) is interviewed about themselves, the household, and all household members. There is variability introduced by sampling and nonsampling errors. Sample numbers are provisionally weighted and adjusted for total population of Hawaii; total numbers are adjusted as households without telephones, Ni‘ihau, group quarters, and homeless are not represented. Much of the information gathered is secondhand (asking one individual about others in that household).
* Cell size restriction: Denominator (number of responses to a question) is less than 50 (unweighted)
