Smoking causes health risks for both mother and babies. It can result to premature birth, low-birth-weight infants, still birth and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). In 2004, 12% to 22% of pregnant women and girls continued to smoke despite knowledge of smoking risks during preganancy.¹
